Abstract
Describes restoration of the stone facade of the Palazzo Madama in Turin. Research has revealed that the principal cause of deterioration is the sulfating caused by the very high level of SO<sub>2</sub> in the atmosphere. Washing in a constant stream of water and with low pressure steam jets to dissolve the surface salts has restored the stone to first-rate condition. -- AATA
