The Barrow method of restoring manuscripts and documents is recounted in detail including: the necessity for deacidification; the procedure for deacidification of paper using a first bath of 0.15% calcium hydroxide and a second bath of 0.20% calcium bicarbonate; silk lamination of paper; lamination of paper between cellulose acetate sheet; and lamination with cellulose acetate sheet and tissue to increase the strength of the final product.
