Abstract
The speed of accumulation of dry sulfur is considered a good criterion to evaluate the impact of atmosphéric pollution on stone. Measurements taken on a calcareous sandstone, two calcareous types of stone, and one marble indicate noticeable differences, which correlate moderately well for sandstone and calcareous rock. The determination of dry sulfur deposition on monumental stone of known age made it possible to calculate the mean speed of sulfur accumulation in the past and to compare it to the present speed. -- AATA
