DOWCLENE LS, a solvent from Dow Chemical that is composed of 1,1, 1-trichloroethane and a stabilizer system, was developed for the drycleaner who wants the advantage of high solvent strength and low drying temperatures. Test results showed that DOWCLENE produced excellent to good performance in each cleaning category except food dye removal. Colorfastness tests revealed that DOWCLENE was comparable with perchloroethylene in all categories except for laminated fabrics. -- AATA
