Abstract
Methods are being sought to measure the different properties of ancient textiles, to further their preservation, and to improve their appearance and physical properties. Physical and chemical testing has been done on simulated ancient wool and cotton subjected to a variety of typical conservation treatments. Accelerated ageing for wool and cotton is discussed.
