Abstract
Artificial oxidic and sulfide films on high tin bronzes were studied for protective properties. Comparison between natural and artificial patina is described, including appearance, thickness, composition, mechanical properties (table), resistance to chemical and atmospheric attack (table) etc. Conclusion: artificial films of all kinds are not resistant to atmospheric effects. Formulas for obtaining artificial films are given.
