Since 1973, the National Service for Restoration of Books and Documents (Madrid) has been organizing three-year courses for training restoration technicians. The objectives and methods are discussed, theoretical study being distinguished from practical training. In the first year, the two are found in equal proportions, the second year is 75% devoted to practical training and the third year entirely so devoted. The syllabus for each year is described in some detail.
