The Quebec National Archives Services must care for a large collection of documents and satisfy the needs of historical research. This creates a large amount of work for the restoration laboratory. The author notes that the considerable effort put into restoration research is not equalled by development in practical work. To remedy this situation thoughts for a program for the training of conservators is presented.
