A thorough examination of the performance of most knots used in the textile industry, particularly those appropriate to worsted wools. Three distinct types of fisherman's knots were found to exist; the barrel knot was found to be most secure but bulky. An SZ double harness bend is recommended for good security and low bullk; it is independent of yam twist direction. -- AATA
