The problems regarding the restoration of papyri are closely dependent on the conditions of their finding and on the original conservation of the material. An analysis is presented of the methods of restoration and preservation of papyri recovered from excavations and mumrries' cartonnage, or purchased from antiquarians. The different phases of restoration of some Greek papyri from The Biblioteca Medica Laurenziana are illustrated.
