Abstract
A documentation study of the conservation state of the James B. Duke House including: stone weathering, structural defects, stains, biological and environmental effects. The first study, started in 1976, was then extended to the interior including marble floors and stairs, false stone wall treatments and other materials. The third exterior study in 1980 reviewed all previous work with particular emphasis on the condition of the limestone balustrade. See also AATA 19-1790.
