Abstract
Saline minerals found in masonry are listed, including some newly identified species. Alkaline salts brought in by cement may react with autochthonous salt in ancient walls. Crystallization in masonry is described from observation of buildings, and its contribution to weathering is discussed. See also AATA 14-1123 and 19-1790.
