In a previous paper old deteriorated roof tiles were successfully consolidated by impregnation with an organic solution of methyl triethoxy silane. The results were applied to the roof tiles of a historic building, the Joko-ji temple Kannondo (Ehime prefecture). During this treatment, restoration of partially broken decorative eave roof tiles was also carried out using specially prepared epoxy patties to replace losses in the original tiles. See AATA 18-1518.
