Abstract
The present publication is part of a project financed by the Stifiung Volkswagenwerk dealing with the use of imitation bronze on wood, stucco and stone in the eighteenth century. This article should further the work of D.V. Thompson (1935) and J.L. Ross (1973) on the same subject. Mosaic gold is better known to us by the references in the literature than by proven examples. The applications of this material have varied from use as pigment in miniatures and calligraphic decorations to coatings for plaster figures and oil lamps in the 19th century.
