A hospital used a specifically devised but relatively simple method to monitor the levels of ethylene oxide (EO) to which employees were exposed at various locations in its central supply department. Based on the results of these tests, the hospital has taken follow-up actions reduce EO concentrations and to initiate a multihospital testing program in its area.
