Abstract
The author gives a detailed description of the reasons why wooden sculptures crack in several dimensions. He also considers the transportation and exhibition of single-block sculptures which come from a humid environment to a drier one. It is recommended that protective cotton pads be put on the sculpture in its home environment, and that the pads remain on the sculpture while it acclimatizes to its new, drier environment.
