The present, revised edition of this classic, usually the first reference source to be consulted when a toxicological problem is encountered, preserves the format of the previous edition. There are 13 introductory sections, two (on chemical substances legislation and on industrial response to chronic health hazards) replacing the one on food additives. The final and main section of the book lists physical, chemical and toxicological data on over 15,000 chemicals, including 2,500 new compounds. A feature of this work is that substances are given a toxic hazard rating based on their LD50 values.
