Abstract
Only abstract published. Biological deterioration may be a factor in the decay of works of art exposed to open air. Micrococcus varians was studied in detail. It was found that it could affect the crystalline structure of calcite affecting the cohesion of the crystal grains in marble. Conservation treatments should take into account biological pollutants.
