Abstract
Samples of sandstones were exposed in urban and rural areas on sites of different pollution levels and where possible in the vicinity of atmospheric monitoring stations. The samples were exposed for six months and analyzed for the accumulation of sulfurous compounds. Rates of accumulation were.08 g/mub>2 per year in the country and 1.6 g/mub>2 per year in the town center. These results were consistent with the data from the monitoring stations.
