Abstract
Design features in anchoring systems for stone-cladding are discussed. Failure to recognize such features as volume change of the stone, high wind forces, differential movement of the stone-cladding and the structural frame, and stress-concentration due to kerf design, has led to failure of the stone itself. The problems due to the failure of the jointing system are also discussed. Factors to aid designers in avoiding these failures are presented. See also AATA 21-914.
