Abstract
The gold jewelry, which along with silver tableware, comprised a hoard unearthed in 1979 from Thetford, Norfolk, is briefly discussed and illustrated. The stylistic and mythological details suggest that the pieces were the unsold inventory of an artisan of the late 4th centuryA.D, who brought them from as far away as Gaul. The gold is said to be 94% to 96% pure, but free of wear. -- AATA
