This petrological and analytical (wavelength dispersive x-ray fluorescence) study shows a wide range of igneous rocks were used: grey vesicular feldspar -- pyroxene and olivine-pyric lavas, or ignimbrite-style rocks. Most of the millstones were local and the products have been traced elsewhere in the western Mediterranean.
