Abstract
The paper discusses the structure and properties of siloxanes, the performance of commercially available products and the results of their use in the hydrophobization of ceramics and limestone in the USSR. The introduction of silicone organic compounds with hydratable groups into polyorganic siloxanes is suggested to improve hydrophobic qualities. Results of tests on brick and limestone samples are presented and discussed. 5 bibliographic references. Data tables.
