Abstract
Petrographical and chemical analyses contribute substantially to the discrimination between white marbles from the major ancient Mediterranean quarries. It is necessary to apply E.G. cluster analysis to the data in order to extract the discriminating information. The use of isotopic data further improves the discrimination.
