Silicone polymers are introduced, hydrolysis and polymerization processes are briefy explained, and the properties of silicone resins are summarized. Methods for stone treatment using silicone resins are described with the conclusion that vacuum treatments give the best results, but are only suitable for small objects. Large immovable objects must undergo surface treatments. Various systems depending on the nature of the stone are mentioned.
