Brief survey of lectures presented in 1983 in connection with the UNESCO course on preservation and treatment of stone in Venice. Discussed were causes of corrosion, cleaning with water or steam, removal of crusts with cleansing pastes containing complexing agents, biological pastes, or micro-sandblasting tools; a variety of consolidating agents to use in stone impregnation.
