The mural paintings from Kuaua Pueblo from the Coronado State Monument are situated near New Mexico. They were discovered in 1935 during excavation on the main wall of the Kiva. The murals were in several layers. Due to conditions, the mural was removed for further work in a laboratory instead of continuing work in situ. Layers were removed, one by one. Each layer was reproduced on canvas full size and smaller scale copies were made also. The subject matter was demons that were worshipped as gods.
