Abstract
Bone samples from a hundred burials excavated at the Dallas and Hixon sites in eastern Tennessee were analyzed by neutron activation, with the object of tracing differences of diet in the individuals and examining possible relations to their status in society. The analytical methodology is described. Dietary differences between status groups were found to exist, with members of the elite having a better balanced diet than the general population. Adults with a better diet were taller on average than the general population. See AATA 19-1933.
