Southeast Asian paintings on fabric provided an opportunity to evaluate the working characteristics of two adhesives: gelatin and carrageenan. These two adhesives were evaluated in mixtures of different proportions to achieve the desired levels of viscosity, penetration, strength, flexibility, and visual appearance. Varying proportions, concentrations, and application methods were found useful for different treatment situations.
