The Kutenai are a tribe of northwestern Montana, Northern Idaho, and British Columbia. The article includes a substantial section on material culture. The Kutenai produce particularly fine white skins using three tanning solutions: first, a mixture of wild rhubarb boiled with horse manure and water; second, animal liver and grease; third, the more common mixture of mashed brains and water.
