The Tahitian Mourner's Costume is composed of eight sections made from a varicty of materials including shell, feathers, bark cloth, Pandanus matting, wood, coconut shell and a variety of plant fiber cordages. Each section was cleaned and repaired using primarily mechanical techniques. A mounting system was designed for the costume. The types of packing systems used for shipment are described.
