Abstract
Several wooden and bone rings were discovered during excavations at a Roman and Islamic seaport on the Red Sea. They were of a type originally believed to be for nautical use, but are now thought to be for spinning. An 18th Dynasty tomb representation is compared to a sketch of one of the rings. -- AATA
