Abstract
The principles of the durable press finishing of cellulosic fabrics (begun 1925) is discussed in two chapters, Cross Linking of Cellulosics and Cross Linking with Formaldehydecontaining Reactants. Then, a chapter on the low liquor ratio Finishing with Foam is presented. Foam generation, structure, and propertics and the fundamental considerations in foam finishing, including absorption rate, are discussed. A final chapter on the Protection of Textiles from Biological Attack provides a pertinent summary of microorganisms which survive on textiles and those which attack textiles, the mechanisms for protecting textiles, finishing techniques, and their interaction with end-use performance. See AATA 21-1760 for volume 1, part A. -- AATA
