Abstract
Polyolefins, due to their limited tendency to develop intramolecular bonds, show high anisotropy of strength in length and transverse direction; they can be cut into tapes or ribbons of high longitudinal strength. The use of polymer films to produce fibers in this manner is discussed. Processing techniques employed to produce film tapes, split-film yarns, and fibrillated film fibers are discussed. -- AATA
