Abstract
This second part (continued from v. 9) of an account of the restoration of the Incredulity of St. Thomas by Cima da Conegliano is a detailed survey of the materials and techniques used to make the altarpiece. 60 samples of paint were studied in cross section and analysed by spectrographic laser microprobe, x-ray diffraction, gas chromatography, mass-spectroscopy and high performance liquid chromatography. 16 colour photographs of the cross-sections are included. Support, ground, underdrawing, and medium are discussed in addition to the pigments. References.
