A history of Kashmir shawls is given, in which the advent and decline of shawl weaving in Kashmir, the evolution of the distinctive motifs and colors used in this delicately woven garment, and the potential extinction of this traditional art form are discussed. Some details of the weaving technique are described. -- AATA
