This report on the analyses performed by a team of 40 scientists is not really a scientific report; it is the story of how several members of the team (including the author) became interested in the problem of the authentication of the Shroud of Turin, and why those scientists decided to proceed as they did. The book does, however, contain a summary of the team's x-ray fluorescence, x-radiography image enhancement, infrared photography, ultraviolet and visible reflectance spectroscopy, and visible and ultraviolet photography findings (chapter 10); plates which reproduce photomicrographs and VP-8 image analyzer pictures; and a bibliography of scientific papers/articles on the Shroud.
