Practical working sessions included demonstrations of leather skiving (thinning), then application of this material in repairs using mowilith dmc-2 as adhesive (pva emulsion). Leather dyeing with stahl universal dyes (a type that can be used either in water or in organic solvents) was also shown. If the leather surface is moist then the dye flows on more smoothly, while diluting a water solution with ethanol enables it to penetrate better. Relining used polyester net, through which dmc-2 was brushed onto the object. Leather sheaths were made using sewing techniques and a synthetic sinew, made from tan nylon which like true sinew can be split into fibrils but comes in long spool lenghts and does not harden with time.
