During the period prior to its accession to the European Union, and especially after the accession on January 1st, 2007, Romania has adapted its legislation by adopting many important EU directives. One of the directives with an important impact on the economic and social life is the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive. The paper presents how this directive is reflected in the Romanian legislation and the implementation mechanism.
