Abstract
Materials for framing prints, laminating or encapsulating paper, and storing postage stamps are discussed. Some are unsuitable, but alternatives are often available. A solvent activity test useful for plastics to be used in stamp storage is given. Tests for rosin, gelatin, alum and lignin are reviewed; and improvements in method suggested. In particular, gelatin-sized papers give ambiguous results in the presence of Aquapel. The permanence of resin-coated photographic papers is mentioned briefly. See AATA 19-1053.
