A series of archeomagnetic samples, most dating in the approximate time period 1200-1500AD, was recently collected in Arkansas and the border areas of adjacent states. The results from these samples indicate that dating of prehistoric baked features can be obtained with good precision and accuracy. Comparison of these results with those previously obtained in the southwestern United States suggests that westward drift between these two areas during the 1200-1500AD time period was probably more rapid than the world wide average from 1300AD to the present.
