Refrigerated, humidity controlled dark storage can result in prolonged life for photographic images on color print material. Non-refrigerated dark storage is not enough to keep some images from fading. Tests compare dark storage and display lives of images printed on Kodak Ektacolor 74 RC paper, Kodak Ektachrome RC paper Type 1933, Agfacolor MCN 310Type 4, Kodak Dye Transfer, Fuji Dyecolor, Cibachrome CCP-A 182U and CCP-D 182U, Fresson Quadrichromie, Hanfstaengl Tricolor Carbro, Kwik-print, Polaroid SX-70, PolaroidPolacolor 2, Polaroid Polarcolor I, Kodak Instant Print Film PR10, and photomechanical color printing processes. A sidelight to the tests was the determination that fading on exposure to light is not directly proportional to the amount of light: prints in 1/10th the amount of light showed greater than 1/10th the amount of fading. -- AATA
