This report reviews corrosion and erosion damage in a number of pipe systems on offshore production platforms. The report deals with internal corrosion related to operational parameters, and with the localization of attacks. External corrosion of insulated and non-insulated pipes is evaluated on the basis of damage reports and internal and external environmental parameters. The rate of corrosion as determined by internal corrosion monitoring using probes and NDT inspection methods is compared with actual corrosion. Safety aspects of relevance to design criteria and corrosion damage actually experienced are also assessed.
