About 200 analyses by energy-dispersive x-ray fluorescence show differences for copper and lead between Roman and Sassanian products. Assignment of finds to known groups by discriminant analysis is only partially successful, because differences in extraction and alloying techniques, in refining skills, and in source material contribute to the final composition.
