From the observation of an association between archaeological remains and soils termed harde in N. Cameroon, remote sensing has been used as to identify these soils thanks to their high reflecting state which is linked with their texture. This study shows firstly that this texture is the product of varied factors: pedological, topographic, climatic and anthropological, acting through time possibly from Neolithic times up to nowadays and secondly that the mapped results can help to focus the surveys.
