Abstract
A reversed-phase chromatographic system utilizing Sep-Pak C18 cartridges has been used to isolate low molecular weight hydrophobic peptides from Holocene age fossil bones from southern California and Nevada. This study suggests that reversed-phase chromatography has several potential applications in amino acid dating, while futher investigation is required before this method can be used in radiocarbon dating.
