Abstract
The results of several years application of dating by thermoluminsecnece (TL) of burnt flints from sites in Europe are summarized and discussed. The basic technique is essentially that reported at the 1980 TL Specialist Seminar. Results have been obtained for the following sites: Pontnewydd Cave, North Wales; Hengistbury Head and Longmoor Inclosure, southern England; La Cotte de St. Brelande, Jersey, Channel Islands; Belvedere, S. Netherlands; Sclayn and Mesvin, Belgium: Biache-Saint-Vasst and Seclin, northern France; Abri Vaufrey, Dordogne, France. For some sites comparative datings by uranmium-series and TL of calcite and loess are available.
