Abstract
An analysis of over 150 samples on Minoan pottery from Kommos, Crete, has been made by the Mineralogical Laboratory at Temple University. The Kommos potter clay blends are discussed and comparisons made with other Minoan ceramics from other sites on Crete. Of particular importance from provenience studies is the fact that these ceramics use a series of local tempering agents that can act as a fingerprint for pottery made in south-central Crete.
