Author reviews the different types of wet sites. Drowned terrestrial sites are located by surveying the underwater contours acoustically. Continued study of inundated terrestrial archaeological sites provides a more accurate understanding of the global distribution of early peoples. Author has determined west coast of Florida to be a good source of these sites with artifactual and midden evidence in sufficiently good condition to warrant the expense of excavations. The remote sensing instruments used in marine survey include the magnetometer, the side scanner, and sub-bottom profiler; these are briefly described and their limitations noted.
