Abstract
The problems connected with the conservation of Leonardo's Last Supper at S. Maria delle Grazie, Milan, involve the wall on which it is painted as well as the surface. Through an analysis of documents kept at the Soprintendenza in Milan and dating from 1985 on, as well as through research in situi, the author discusses the structural questions. The room was modified architecturally in the 16th and 17th centuries again in 1924, and finally after the bombardment of 1943.
